Dapper Labs and Disney Team Up for NFT Pin Platform

Dapper Labs, renowned for its NBA Top Shot NFT collection, has entered into a groundbreaking collaboration with Disney to unveil their latest venture, ‘Disney Pinnacle.’ This initiative aims to revolutionize the traditional pastime of collecting pins by introducing a digital experience featuring iconic characters from Disney’s extensive history, Pixar, and the Star Wars universe. The waitlist for Disney Pinnacle is now open, heralding a new era for digital pin collecting.

Capturing Nostalgia: Disney Pinnacle’s Mission

In partnership with Disney, Dapper Labs seeks to capitalize on the enduring nostalgic and cultural value associated with Disney’s beloved characters. The result is Disney Pinnacle, a novel NFT platform that enables enthusiasts to engage in the collection, trading, and display of digital pins depicting their favorite characters. Hosted on the Flow blockchain, which currently ranks as the ninth-largest in NFT sales over the past month, Disney Pinnacle promises a seamless and secure platform for collectors.

Accessible Anywhere: Disney Pinnacle on iOS Devices

Dapper Labs announced that Disney Pinnacle will be accessible on the Apple App Store for iOS devices later this year. This strategic move aims to allow users the flexibility to carry their collections on the go and share them across various networks. Roham Gharegozlou, co-founder and CEO of Dapper Labs, emphasized the platform’s user-centric design, stating,

“Disney Pinnacle is an all-new product designed from the ground up to incorporate everything we’ve learned over the past few years.”

Disney’s NFT Endeavors

While this marks Disney’s latest venture into the NFT space, it’s not the first time the entertainment giant has explored blockchain-driven initiatives. In collaboration with digital collectibles company Veve, Disney launched the “Golden Moments” NFT collection in 2021, catering to Disney enthusiasts. Disney’s strategic entry into the metaverse in 2022, however, took a turn as the company reportedly dissolved its metaverse division in April 2023 amidst organizational restructuring.

Blockchain Stats

In the last 30 days, Flow blockchain, where Dapper Labs’ NFTs are hosted, reported sales of $5,060,499, signifying a notable 23.56% increase from the prior week. Flow currently holds the fifth position among blockchains in lifetime digital collectible sales, amassing a substantial $1.26 billion. Despite a decline since its peak monthly sales in 2021, a partnership with Disney could potentially inject new energy into Flow’s performance. However, it’s essential to acknowledge that Disney, despite its enduring popularity, has faced challenges and was recently satirized on “South Park.
