A diverse group comprising a pregnant physician’s assistant, a train conductor, and a retired investment banker are among the selected 12 individuals who will determine the verdict for former FTX CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried.

On October 4, the second day of the trial in Manhattan, the 12 jurors were chosen from an initial pool of 45, according to an in-depth report by Cointelegraph’s Ana Paula Pereira. Each potential juror was allocated a minute to introduce themselves, where they shared details about their background, age, occupation, educational qualifications, relationship status, and number of children.

A noteworthy point from Pereira’s coverage was the mention of a potential juror whose spouse was employed at a law firm that had previously rendered services to FTX. However, it remains unconfirmed if this individual was among the chosen 12.

A significant downturn in the cryptocurrency market was primarily driven by altcoins, leading to liquidations worth approximately $73 million. However, the news that captured major headlines on October 4 relates to the forthcoming trial of Sam Bankman-Fried.

Reports from Bloomberg and TechCrunch reveal that the jury panel for the trial will predominantly consist of females. Out of the 12 jurors, nine are women, spanning various age groups from early 30s to late 60s. Their professional backgrounds are diverse, with representation from the health, financial, legal, IT, and education sectors. Among them, five hold university degrees.

Trial Update: The selection of the jurors was followed by opening statements from both the prosecution and defense, lasting 15 minutes each. Subsequently, the court heard testimonies from Marc Julliard, who claims to have lost around $80,000 to FTX, and Adam Yedidia, a former associate of Bankman-Fried.

The trial concerning Bankman-Fried is eagerly anticipated, and its developments are likely to be closely followed by the global financial and crypto communities.
