A Huge Win for Bitcoin in the Corporate World

And it’s got the whole crypto community buzzing. More companies than ever are jumping on board, treating Bitcoin like a real treasure for their financial reserves. It’s a big moment that shows businesses are starting to take digital currencies seriously.
Bitwise says publicfirms’ Bitcoin holdings are now at around 688,000 BTC, which is a huge jump from last quarter.
Why Are Companies So Obsessed with Bitcoin Right Now?
That kind of growth makes it hard for any company to ignore when they’re thinking about shaking up their financial plans. But it’s not just about the price. Bitcoin only has a limited supply of 21 million coins, and its decentralized system makes it a great way to protect against inflation—something businesses are really worried about with today’s uncertain economy.
Bitwise also gives a big nod to companies like MicroStrategy, which has been a Bitcoin giant for years. New players like Hong Kong’s Ming Shing and Japan’s Metaplanet are also stepping up, adding to the pile of public firms’ Bitcoin holdings. Metaplanet, for instance, now owns 4,525 BTC, worth $383.2 million, after buying 319 BTC in Q1 2025.
New Companies Jump into the Bitcoin Scene
Q1 2025 wasn’t just about the usual suspects 12 new public companies decided to give Bitcoin a shot, giving a nice boost to public firms’ Bitcoin holdings. Ming Shing grabbed everyone’s attention by buying 833 BTC across January and February, making it the biggest first-time buyer this quarter. Then there’s Rumble, a video platform, which picked up 188 BTC in March—a smaller purchase, but still a big deal. You’ve got major players like CleanSpark, a U.S. Bitcoin mining company with 10,556 BTC (worth over $1 billion), alongside global companies like Metaplanet. This mix proves Bitcoin is going worldwide, attracting businesses from all over the map.
Big Businesses Are Starting to Trust Bitcoin Big Time
The 16% rise in public firms’ Bitcoin holdings isn’t just a number—it’s a huge sign that major companies are starting to trust crypto. Bitwise mentions that the number of public companies holding Bitcoin went up by 17% since last quarter, which shows digital assets are becoming a normal part of how businesses handle their money. On top of that, Bitcoin has been doing better than traditional markets, beating the S&P 500 year after year, which makes it even more appealing.
Bitcoin’s price can be a wild ride, and some experts are watching for trouble between $86,000 and $87,000. People like Michael Saylor are super optimistic, saying Bitcoin might hit $180,000 before dropping to $140,000, but others are worried about things like market tricks or stricter rules slowing things down. Even so, the energy behind public firms’ Bitcoin holdings shows companies are willing to take the risk for the big rewards down the road.
What’s Coming for Bitcoin in the Corporate Space?
Looking ahead, the future of public firms’ Bitcoin holdings looks promising, especially if Bitcoin keeps climbing and hits new all-time highs. With more businesses joining the party every day, Bitcoin is becoming a key part of corporate finance, pointing to a future where digital currencies are just a normal piece of the puzzle.
