Wintermute, a well-known cryptocurrency trader and liquidity provider, is launching “OutcomeMarket”, a prediction market for the upcoming “US Presidential Elections”. In this market, participants can trade “HARRIS” and “TRUMP” tokens to predict the outcomes of the election. What makes this initiative stand out is its collaboration with “Chaos Labs” and the introduction of advanced “Edge Proofs Oracle” technology, designed to provide highly reliable and tamper-proof data feeds.

 Launching Across Multiple Blockchains

Wintermute plans to roll out the market during the fourth week of September 2024, making it accessible on blockchains such as “Ethereum, Base,” and “Arbitrum”. Users on these chains won’t have to bridge their assets to take part, thanks to Wintermute’s permissionless smart contract.

The “HARRIS” and “TRUMP” tokens will be tradeable across both centralized and decentralized exchanges. Early platforms to list these tokens include “Bebop, WOO”, and “Backpack”.

A New Era for Prediction Markets

The CEO of Wintermute, “Evgeny Gaevoy”, shared his excitement:

*“There has been significant interest from both centralized and decentralized trading venues to list such prediction market contracts, but no one had developed them in a permissionless manner without imposing minting or transaction fees.”*

With “Chaos Labs’ oracle”, powered by a blend of AI and real-time risk models, the prediction market aims to provide accurate, risk-assessed data to its users. “Omer Goldberg”, CEO of Chaos Labs, highlighted the uniqueness of this integration, explaining that it ensures precision and security for market participants.

 Regulatory Concerns in the US

Prediction markets allow individuals to place bets on potential future outcomes by trading tokens representing their predictions. However, in the US, these markets face scrutiny. The “Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)” has flagged concerns about possible market manipulation, proposing rules to ban event contracts like these prediction market tokens.

Wintermute’s CEO has acknowledged this challenge:

*“It will be up to the trading venues that will list the market on how they manage the US exposure, but I’m pretty sure most of them don’t allow US customers already,”* Gaevoy stated in an interview with Bloomberg.

Currently, US-based prediction markets like “Kalshi” and “Polymarket” face strict regulations, and American users may not be able to participate in OutcomeMarket, even if their favored candidate wins the election.

 The Future of Election Betting?

With the launch of “OutcomeMarket”, Wintermute is stepping into a space that bridges “decentralized finance” (DeFi) and the political world. While US regulations might keep American participants on the sidelines, the global crypto community is keenly watching how this decentralized market will unfold. The absence of traditional fees and restrictions may set a new standard for prediction markets in the blockchain space.

Conclusion

Wintermute’s “OutcomeMarket” offers a fresh perspective on election betting, combining blockchain innovation with political predictions. The launch of “HARRIS” and “TRUMP” tokens across multiple blockchains signifies a new era for decentralized prediction markets—though it remains to be seen how regulatory hurdles in the US will shape its success.
