Bitcoin (BTC) is trading in uncharted territory, soaring to new heights and potentially on track to hit the six-figure mark for the first time in its history.

On November 11, Bitcoin broke a new high of $82,410, surpassing its previous record. As per data from Bitstamp, the cryptocurrency’s price surged to this level at 10:19 am UTC. This could be just the beginning of a broader upward trajectory, as some analysts predict Bitcoin will breach the $85,000 mark within the coming week.

A Volatile Week Ahead

Ryan Lee, Chief Analyst at Bitget Research, shared his expectations for Bitcoin’s price movements over the next few days. According to Lee, Bitcoin could experience increased volatility, with the price ranging between $76,000 and $85,000. He cautioned that any upward breakthroughs could be followed by rapid corrections, adding to the unpredictability of the market this week.

“Volatility in BTC and ETH is expected to remain high, with potential upward movements followed by sharp corrections,” Lee said.

The recent surge in Bitcoin’s price comes just a week after the victory of Donald Trump in the 2024 U.S. The presidential election has fueled an increased appetite for risk-on assets, such as Bitcoin. Some analysts believe that this rally could set Bitcoin on a path to potentially surpass $100,000 before the year ends.

Investor Sentiment Strong in Options Market

Investor sentiment is a key factor contributing to Bitcoin’s bullish momentum. According to Lee, the options market shows a significant preference for Bitcoin’s price to continue rising. The price of Bitcoin call options has risen notably, signaling a strong bullish bias among investors. This indicates a general market consensus that Bitcoin’s price could continue climbing soon.

Lee explained, “BTC call options have risen in price considerably compared to put options, indicating a strong bullish sentiment and a general market expectation of continued upward momentum.”

Bitcoin Market Cap Surpasses $1.6 Trillion

As Bitcoin’s price surpassed the $81,000 level, it also reached a significant milestone — crossing a $1.6 trillion market capitalization for the first time in its history. This achievement further solidifies Bitcoin’s growing dominance in the global financial landscape.

Ether Follows Bitcoin’s Lead

Ether (ETH) has also benefitted from Bitcoin’s impressive price movement. The price of Ether surpassed $3,200 over the weekend, following Bitcoin’s climb above the $80,000 mark. Lee believes that Ether’s price could experience continued upward momentum, driven by Bitcoin’s bullish performance.

Lee stated, “ETH is anticipated to range between $2,800 and $3,500. Users should be cautious when using leverage and consider taking profits quickly depending on market conditions.”

Ether’s price increase has been notable, rising 29% on the weekly chart and surpassing Bank of America’s market capitalization by approximately $40 billion, with its market cap now standing at over $383 billion.

A Bullish Outlook for 2024

Bitcoin’s price surge and Ether’s strong performance have contributed to the overall positive sentiment in the cryptocurrency market. While some analysts argue that the current rally may lack the macroeconomic conditions needed to sustain an all-time high, the ongoing market movements suggest that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies could continue to experience significant growth.

As the year draws to a close, investors and analysts alike are watching closely, wondering if Bitcoin will indeed reach its historic $100,000 milestone before 2024 ends.
