While Ethereum (ETH) has yet to participate in the broader altcoin market rally that has seen assets like XRP, Cardano (ADA), and BNB surge in recent weeks, its price has remained relatively stable around the $3,700 mark. Despite this, analysts are optimistic, citing strong support levels and a surge in Ethereum ETF inflows as potential catalysts for an upward breakout.

Ethereum Support Levels Holding Firm

The bulls have continued to defend Ethereum’s crucial support levels, keeping the price above $3,600. Crypto analyst IncomeSharks noted that while Ethereum has not yet seen the explosive growth witnessed by some of its altcoin peers, its daily support remains intact.

IncomeSharks remarked, “I wouldn’t chase ETH at this level, but for now, daily support is holding.” The analyst set a downside threshold of $3,200, below which a potential sell-off could occur. On the upside, the target remains $4,000, suggesting that Ethereum could still see a rally in the near term.

Cup-and-Handle Pattern Suggests Long-Term Potential

Looking at a multi-year chart, ETH has formed a cup-and-handle pattern since November 2021, a technical formation often associated with significant price moves. Analysts have pointed out that Ethereum needs to break above the $3,800 resistance to confirm a breakout, setting the stage for what could be explosive growth.

Based on the historical success of this pattern, analysts estimate a long-term target for ETH at $7,346.

Ethereum’s On-Chain Volume Soars

Ethereum’s on-chain volume experienced significant growth in November, reaching $183.7 billion, the highest monthly total since early 2021. This represents a 9% increase over the previous peak in March of this year, signaling a robust demand for Ethereum’s ecosystem.

Much of this growth is attributed to a resurgence in Ethereum-based NFT trading, with Ethereum-based NFT marketplaces experiencing their highest trading volumes since June.

Surge in Ethereum ETF Inflows

A key catalyst for Ethereum’s recent price action has been the strong inflows into spot Ethereum ETFs. On December 3, $132 million in net inflows were recorded, following a $24 million inflow on the previous day. Fidelity’s FETH and BlackRock’s ETHA were the major contributors, with FETH seeing $73.7 million in inflows and ETHA recording $65.3 million.

This marks a significant shift in sentiment, as Ethereum ETFs are attracting considerable institutional interest. Notably, Grayscale’s ETHE saw a significant drop in outflows, falling from $44.3 million the day before to just $6.4 million, further fueling optimism.

Since its inception, BlackRock’s Ethereum ETF has amassed $2.2 billion in inflows, while Fidelity’s FETH is nearing the $1 billion milestone. Interestingly, Ethereum ETFs have recently surpassed Bitcoin ETFs in daily inflows, a trend that has contributed to the upward momentum in ETH’s price.

What’s Next for Ethereum?

While Ethereum has faced some resistance in its price action compared to other altcoins, its strong support levels, coupled with an uptick in ETF inflows and growing on-chain activity, suggest that a rally toward $4,000 remains a distinct possibility. If Ethereum can confirm its breakout above $3,800, the bullish momentum could drive ETH to new all-time highs, with some analysts targeting $7,346 based on historical patterns.

As Ethereum continues to develop its ecosystem, particularly with NFTs and decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, its long-term potential remains strong. The increasing institutional interest, coupled with the strong support from retail investors, could set the stage for Ethereum’s next big move.
